Types of Hayward Pool Filters

There are two main types of Hayward pool filters: cartridge filters and sand filters. Hayward cartridge filters  include the Swimclear, Starclear, and other single element cartridges.

Tip: If a  Hayward filter cartridge is clogged, it can usually be cleaned by giving it a good hose down with a Water TechniX Waterwand or a soak in some specially formulated Water TechniX Filter Cleaning Solution to melt away any dirt and grime that's stubbornly clinging to your Hayward filter elements.

Pro Tip: When choosing Hayward pool filters, it’s always better to oversize. Oversizing your pool filter means that you will have longer cycles in between filter cleaning or backwashes. Oversized Hayward filters will also reduce the overall stress on your pool pumps by allowing your filters to catch more dirt and debris before the pressure increases. 

BUT when choosing a replacement Hayward filter element,  be sure to get the exact same model of your existing Hayward cartridge filter!
