Your Pool's Secret Weapon Against Stains
Our formula works smarter, not harder, to lift stains without damaging your pool.
Tackles All Stain Types
Our versatile blend of Oxalic and Citric acids effectively dissolves rust, iron, salt, mineral, and organic stains like leaf marks and faint algae shadows.
Surface Safe Formula
Designed to be tough on stains but gentle on your pool. It's safe for concrete, pebble, quartzon, fibreglass, vinyl, and tiled surfaces when used as directed.
Fast & Powerful Action
The formula chemically reacts with stains, breaking them down and loosening their grip so you can easily brush them away without endless, harsh scrubbing.
Specialist Formula vs. Generic Acid: What's the Difference?
You might see generic oxalic acid in hardware stores, but is it right for your pool? Here’s why our purpose-built formula is the smarter, safer choice.
Water TechniX Stain Remover
- Specialised Blend: Combines Oxalic and Citric acids, designed to work synergistically in pool water.
- Broad-Spectrum: Effectively targets a wide range of stains, from rust and minerals to organic leaf stains.
- Pool Surface Safe: Manufactured and tested to be safe for all pool surfaces, including concrete, pebble, vinyl, and fibreglass.
- Proven Performance: Formulated for the unique chemistry of pool water, ensuring reliable and consistent results on removable stains.
Generic Hardware Store Acid
- Single Ingredient: Typically just raw oxalic acid, which may not be effective on all types of pool stains.
- Unknown Purity: Not intended for pools, so its purity and potential impact on water balance and equipment are unknown.
- Risk of Damage: Using a non-specialist product risks damaging sensitive surfaces like vinyl liners or fibreglass gel coats.
- Designed for Other Uses: Primarily intended for cleaning hard surfaces like concrete, driveways, or wood, not for submerged use in treated water.
A Stain-Free Pool in 6 Simple Steps
Follow our guide to get the best results and restore your pool's sparkle. It's easier than you think!
Lower Chlorine
Reduce chlorine to 0-1 ppm. High chlorine neutralises the stain remover. For saltwater pools, turn the chlorinator cell off during treatment.
Apply Product
With the pump OFF, sprinkle the powder directly onto stains. For walls, use the 'sock trick' (see our pro-tips below). Let it sit for a few hours.
Brush Gently
After 1-2 hours, gently scrub the treated areas with a suitable pool brush. The stains should lift away easily without harsh scrubbing.
Check Dosage
Use 1kg per 50,000L for a full pool treatment. For spot treatments, just apply a small amount as needed. Older stains may need a repeat dose.
Rebalance & Prevent
Once stains are gone, rebalance your water. Aim for pH 7.2-7.6 (using pH Up/Down) and Chlorine 1.5ppm (Winter) or 3.0ppm (Summer). Use a Metal Sequestrant to prevent future stains.

Prevent Metal Stains For Good
You've removed the stains. Now keep them away with the Water TechniX Metal Out Remover, the essential follow-up treatment.

Water TechniX Metal Out Remover - 1L
This powerful sequestrant binds to dissolved metal particles that the Stain Remover has lifted, preventing them from re-staining your pool surfaces and turning your water cloudy.
- How it Works: Acts like a magnet for metals, clumping them together so your filter can easily remove them.
- Perfect Post-Treatment: The ideal follow-up to clear cloudy water after using the Stain Remover.
- How to Use: After stain treatment, add 1L per 50,000L of water. Distribute evenly around the pool with the pump running. Run the filter for 24-48 hours.

Got Stains in Stubborn Places?
Try these pro-tips for targeted stain removal.

For Tricky Wall Stains
Pop the powder in a sock, scrub, then hang it over the spot. It will slowly release the formula right onto the stain overnight.

For Hard-to-Reach Floor Stains
Use the old PVC pipe trick—pour the powder straight through it for a precision drop. Bullseye, every time.
Pool Gone Cloudy After Treatment?
Don't worry, this is common. Here’s how to get your water crystal clear again.
It’s not uncommon for pool water to turn cloudy after using Water TechniX Stain Remover. This is usually due to the product lowering the pH of your pool water as part of the treatment process. When pH drops too low (around 7.2), water clarity can be affected.
Test & Balance
Use test strips to check pH and chlorine. Adjust pH to 7.2-7.6 and chlorine to 1–3 ppm.
Stabilise pH
Add an alkalinity increaser (buffer) to maintain stable pH levels and prevent future fluctuations.
Clarify Water
Use a flocculant for sand filters or a clarifier for cartridge filters to bind fine particles.
Clean Filter
Clean your filter thoroughly during and after treatment to remove residue and captured particles.
Run Pump
Keep your pump running continuously. Your water should return to clear within a few days.
Prevent Future Stains
Use a metal remover as a final, proactive measure to stop stains from coming back.

Frequently Asked Questions
Your top questions about the Water TechniX Stain Remover, answered.
Can I use this in my saltwater pool?
Absolutely. The process is the same, with one crucial step: you must turn your saltwater chlorinator cell OFF before you begin treatment. Since the cell produces chlorine, leaving it on will neutralize the stain remover. Once the treatment is complete and you begin re-balancing your water, you can turn the cell back on.
Can I use this in my Naked pool?
Yes, our Stain Remover is suited to all pool types, including salt, magnesium, and Naked freshwater systems.
How long does it take to work?
You'll often see results within a couple of hours. For best results, we recommend letting the product sit for at least a few hours, or even overnight for very stubborn, old stains. Some deeply set stains may require a second application.
Is it really safe for my vinyl liner / fibreglass pool?
Yes. When used as directed, our formula is perfectly safe for all pool surfaces, including vinyl liners, fibreglass, pebblecrete, quartzon, and tiles. It's specifically designed to be tough on stains but gentle on your pool's surfaces.
