Why This Works When Others Don't
Quick Answers
Results often show within 2 hours. For stubborn stains, leave overnight. Winter is ideal because lower chlorine helps the formula work faster.
Yes. For fibreglass and vinyl pools, apply using the sock method rather than direct contact to avoid any risk of bleaching.
Absolutely. The same formula works on rust marks, oil stains, and grime on concrete, pavers, and fences. Spot test first on painted or natural stone.
Winter is the perfect time. Chlorine levels are naturally lower, and the pool isn't being used so you can let the treatment sit as long as needed.

Why This Works When Others Don't
Quick Answers
Most pool owners see black spots turning grey within 24 hours. For heavy infestations a second application a week later is recommended.
Yes. For fibreglass, vinyl, quartzon and tiled pools, add it via the skimmer basket rather than direct application to avoid bleaching.
Wait at least 48 hours and confirm chlorine is back to 2 to 4 ppm and pH is 7.2 to 7.6 before swimming.
Absolutely, and you should. Black spot algae doesn't go dormant in winter. Treating now means it won't be double the problem when you reopen in spring.
The Winter Pool Nightmare
You've scrubbed, shocked, and tried every pool shop remedy. Yet stains keep staring back and black spot algae won't die. Winter makes both problems worse.
Endless Scrubbing
Back-breaking brushing with zero lasting results. Stains and black spots always come back.
Wasted Money
Generic acids and regular algaecides simply don't work on deeply embedded stains or black spot algae.
Permanent Damage
Left untreated, both stains and algae etch permanently into pool surfaces. A $3,000+ problem.
Winter Makes It Worse
Pools get ignored over winter. Meanwhile, stains etch deeper and black spot spreads silently.
Winter Insight
Ignore It Now. Regret It in Spring.
Most pool owners don't think about stains or black spot in autumn and winter. That's exactly why both problems get so destructive. While your pool sits unused, stains are etching permanently into the surface and algae is burrowing deeper, spreading its root system. What takes one treatment now could take two or three by spring.
Two Problems. Two Specialised Solutions.
Generic products fail because stains and black spot are completely different problems. Each needs a specific chemistry to work.
Stain Remover
Uses a proprietary organic acid blend (Oxalic and Citric Acid 980g/kg) that chemically reacts with rust, iron, and mineral deposits, breaking them down at the molecular level.
Black Spot Remover
Uses slow-dissolving granular chlorine (Trichloroisocyanuric Acid 900g/kg) that gradually releases over 24 hours, penetrating the algae's root system.
How to Apply Stain Remover
Stain Remover — Application Instructions
Lower Chlorine Levels
Reduce chlorine to 0 to 1 ppm before application. Winter naturally keeps chlorine lower so you may already be close.
Apply the Product
For Concrete, Pebblecrete, Quartzon, and Tile:
With pump OFF, sprinkle powder directly onto stains. For wall stains, use the sock trick.
For Fibreglass and Vinyl Pools:
Use the sock method only. Fill a sock with powder, scrub the stained area, then hang the sock over the spot.
For Driveways, Fences and Outdoor Surfaces:
Sprinkle directly onto rust marks or grime. Add water to activate. Let sit, then rinse.
Let It Work, Then Brush and Rebalance
Allow 1 to 2 hours for light stains, or overnight for stubborn marks. Gently brush treated areas. Rebalance water to pH 7.2 to 7.6 and chlorine 1.5 to 3.0 ppm.
Important Safety Note
Wait until stains are fully treated and water chemistry is rebalanced before swimming. Not recommended for marble or limestone.
Before re-entering the pool:
- ✓ Chlorine: 1.5 to 3.0 ppm
- ✓ pH: 7.2 to 7.6
Always read and follow the full product label instructions and safety precautions.
How to Apply Black Spot Remover
Black Spot Remover — Application Instructions
Brush Affected Areas
Vigorously brush the black spots with a stainless steel brush (for concrete/pebble) or a nylon brush (for vinyl/fibreglass) to break the algae's protective waxy layer.
Apply the Product
For Concrete and Pebblecrete Pools:
Apply the product directly onto the affected areas (spot treat).
For Vinyl, Fibreglass, Quartzon and Tiled Pools:
Apply the product directly into the skimmer basket. Direct application on softer surfaces can cause bleaching.
Circulate, Then Brush and Vacuum
Run your pool pump for at least 24 hours. After 24 to 48 hours, brush away dead algae (it typically turns grey/white) and vacuum to waste or filter.
Important Safety Note
Do not swim for at least 48 hours after treatment. This product super-chlorinates the water, which may cause skin and eye irritation.
Before re-entering the pool:
- ✓ Chlorine: 2 to 4 ppm (Summer) | 2 to 3 ppm (Winter)
- ✓ pH: 7.2 to 7.6
Always read and follow the full product label instructions and safety precautions.
