Pro Tips from Our Pool Experts
⏳ Don't Test Right Away
After adding salt, run your pump for 24 hours before testing. Salt needs time to fully dissolve and circulate evenly through the water.
🌧️ Test After Rain
Rain dilutes your pool. Test your salt level after any significant rainfall and top up as needed to prevent your chlorinator from shutting off.
🧹 Clean Your Cell Quarterly
Calcium builds up on the cell plates over time. Even with perfect salt levels, a clogged cell produces little chlorine. Clean it every 3 months.
🧂 Add Salt in the Shallows
Pour salt into the shallow end with the pump running. Brush until dissolved — never allow undissolved salt to sit on the pool floor for long.

Salt Water Pool Questions
Salt Level Fine but No Chlorine?
It Might Be Your Cell.
If your salt tests at the right level but your chlorinator still isn't producing chlorine, a worn-out cell is almost always the culprit. We stock replacement cells for all major brands.
