Know Exactly What's In Your Pool
Four specialist test strips covering the parameters your standard strips miss β copper & metals, phosphates, salt, and full 7-parameter water balance. Results in 30 seconds from your pool deck.
Water TechniX Test Strips
Purpose-built strips for the tests that matter most. Each delivers precise, reliable readings from your pool deck in seconds.
7-in-1 Pool Test Strips
Water TechniX Β· 50 strips per pack
- Tests all 7 core parameters in a single dip β the ideal weekly testing strip for any pool type
- 50 strips per pack β over a year of weekly tests at the recommended frequency
- Suitable for pools, heated pools, and spas with all sanitiser types

Copper & Metal Test Strips
Water TechniX Β· 26 strips per pack
- Essential for mineral purifier and copper ionisation pools β 7-in-1 strips don't test for this
- Catches copper before it causes blue-green surface staining or turns hair green
- 26 strips β over a year of fortnightly testing; airtight premium bottle keeps them fresh

Phosphate Test Strips
Water TechniX Β· 26 strips per pack
- Phosphates are algae's primary food source β the hidden reason chlorine stops working
- One-dip formula with 30-second results; 26 strips in an airtight waterproof bottle
- Compatible with pools, heated pools, and spas with all sanitiser systems

Salt Test Strips
Water TechniX Β· 26 strips per pack
- Standard 7-in-1 strips don't test salt β you need a dedicated strip for an accurate chlorinator reading
- Prevents over-salting which stresses the chlorinator cell and corrodes pool fittings
- 26 strips in an airtight bottle; calibrated to Water TechniX chlorinator requirements

| Salt or mineral chlorinator pool | Salt Test Strips | Salt concentration 0β8,000 ppm |
| Copper ionisation or mineral purifier system | Copper & Metal Test Strips | Copper levels 0β0.5 ppm |
| Persistent algae despite correct chlorine | Phosphate Test Strips | Phosphate concentration 0β500 ppb |
| Blue-green staining or green hair after swimming | Copper & Metal Test Strips | Identifies copper as the source of the problem |
| Complete ongoing maintenance setup | 7-in-1 + specialist strip | Full water chemistry picture with every test |
Results in 30 Seconds, Every Time
Take a Water Sample
Collect from elbow depth β about 30cm below the surface, away from jets or returns, for the most representative reading of the bulk water.
Dip the Strip
Hold by the dry end and dip into the water for exactly 2 seconds. Don't swish or shake while submerged. Remove in one smooth motion.
Wait 30 Seconds
Hold the strip horizontally β do not shake off excess water. The reagent pads develop their colour over 30 seconds. Read in natural daylight for the best accuracy.
Match & Dose
Compare each pad to the colour chart on the bottle. Then use the free Mr Pool Man Water Calculator to get exact dosing instructions β no guesswork.
Pro Tip: Seal the Bottle Immediately After Every Use
Moisture from the pool environment degrades unused strips very quickly inside an open bottle. Seal the cap immediately after removing a strip. Store in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight and pool chemical fumes.
Testing Like a Pool Pro
Test Weekly, Not Just When Problems Appear
Chemistry shifts gradually. By the time you see green water or staining, the imbalance has been building for weeks. Weekly checks let you make small corrections before they become expensive repairs.
Test After Rain or Heavy Swim Load
Rain dilutes your water chemistry. A large pool party burns through chlorine fast. Test within 24 hours of either event and adjust before the pool falls out of balance.
Layer Your Testing β 7-in-1 First
Use the 7-in-1 every week as your foundation. Add specialist strips monthly or when issues arise β copper if you run a mineral system, phosphates if algae keeps returning.
Pair with the Free Water Calculator
Once you have your readings, plug them into the Mr Pool Man Water Testing Calculator to get exact dosing instructions β no guesswork, no over-treatment, no wasted chemicals.
Once You Know What's Wrong β Fix It
Your test strips point to the problem. These are the Water TechniX products that solve it.
What Aussie Pool Owners Are Saying
"My pool had dark staining and Mr Pool Man diagnosed it as copper. These strips now let me check fortnightly and treat early if needed. No more trips to the pool shop with water samples."
"The 7-in-1 strips are exactly what I was after. Quick, easy to read, and I can test before work and have the pool balanced by the afternoon. Great packaging β no soggy strips from the first pack."
"Had algae coming back constantly despite good chlorine. Phosphate strips showed sky-high readings from garden runoff. Fixed it with phosphate remover β no algae since. Should have tested for this months ago."
Common Questions
At minimum, test weekly with the 7-in-1 strips for core water balance. If you run a mineral or copper ionisation system, test copper fortnightly. Test phosphates monthly or whenever algae appears despite correct chlorine. After heavy rain or a large swim event, test again within 24 hours.
No β this is one of the most common misconceptions. Standard 7-in-1 strips cover chlorine, pH, alkalinity, hardness, cyanuric acid, and bromine, but not salt, copper, or phosphates. Many pool owners with salt chlorinators or copper ionisers have significant problems they're completely unaware of because their standard strips can't detect them.
High phosphate levels are the most common cause. Phosphates β which enter pools via leaves, fertiliser runoff, and some algaecides β are algae's primary food source. If phosphates exceed 100β200 ppb, algae can thrive even at correct chlorine levels. Test with Phosphate Strips first and treat with a phosphate remover before adding more chlorine.
The ideal level is 0 ppm β no detectable copper. Any detectable copper should be treated with a metal remover. At 0.25 ppm treat soon. At 0.5 ppm (the top of the scale on these strips) treat urgently and identify the source β this is the level where green hair and surface staining become likely.
The premium airtight bottles are designed to preserve strip accuracy for the full shelf life, provided you seal the cap immediately after each use. Store in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight and pool chemical fumes. Always check the expiry date on the bottle before use β never use expired strips.
Most pool owners start with the 7-in-1 for weekly testing. You'll benefit from specialist strips if: you have a salt or magnesium chlorinator (Salt Strips), you use a mineral or copper ionisation system (Copper & Metal Strips), or you experience recurring algae despite balanced chlorine (Phosphate Strips). The 7-in-1 plus one specialist strip covers the vast majority of home pools completely.
